Jakarta - Industrial broadcast pay TV (Pay TV) is considered more potent than the telecommunications industry today. The chances are still very large, because of the 40 million households had television sets in Indonesia, only 2.5% who subscribe to Pay TV.
"The market is still very large. If you look at the current condition Pay TV is more promising than the telecommunications sector," said Guntur Siboro, Director of Marketing and Sales Aora TV, at Pacific Place SCBD, Jakarta, Thursday (09/29/2011).
Compared
to the mobile telecommunications has 180 million more customers,
opportunities in the Pay TV is still wide open because it only has about
one million more subscribers.
Currently, the largest Pay TV operator new just about 700-800 thousand by Indovision. Its
closest competitor is Telkomvision with 200 thousand subscribers, and
First Media and TV Aora each 100 thousand subscribers. "Pay TV market is more communal, since users are family," said Thunder.
Aora
using KU-band technology via the Measat-3 satellite, according to
Guntur, managed to hook the 100 thousand subscribers until September
2011 thanks to a program of subscription packages at affordable prices.
"We
managed to run fairly high subscriber growth since the first quarter of
this year thanks to an affordable subscription package strategy.
Estimated 60% of the total users are from the package," he said.
Expresses, the largest customer base in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi, West Java, and Sumatra. "We
are optimistic that customers will continue to grow as new pay-TV
penetration is 2.5% of the total population that has a television, or
about 40 million of the total 60 million households," he said.
To further expand the penetration of sales, the company will target remote areas. Currently working on the region is focusing Aora Jambi, Sulawesi, Manado and Balikpapan.
"The
challenge Aora TV market is changing the mindset of the public on pay
TV. Currently the community is still evolving thinking more expensive
than the pay-TV broadcasts free to air," he said.
Described
by him, in the future the company will also begin targeting the upper
segment by providing a TV service tech High Definition (HD) before the
end of the year. It also plans to develop services on television three dimensional (3D), and the I-pay TV or internet TV.
Aora TV first aired on August 8, 2008 with the name PT Karyamegah Adijaya with an initial investment of Rp 40 billion. This
company in 2008 had membetot market attention because obtaining a
license broadcasting rights 2009/10 Premier League season.
Since late August 2009, Aora TV decided to stop broadcasting the Premier League. Finally,
since abandoned its customers, Aora TV was lost and at the end of 2009
to lay off 90% of its employees and the vacuum on the air.
